What Happened When Adam Died 2

Genesis 2:17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 5:5: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Adam and Eve died spiritually the day they ate the forbidden fruit. Adam died physically 930 years later. The Bible does not specify how long Eve lived physically. Physical death is when our souls are separated from our bodies. Spiritual death is when we are separated from the living God. We inherit dead spirits and (physically) living souls and bodies from Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve are the only mortals who were ever innocent before God and lost it. They hid from Him in the garden and He came to them and established an eternal relationship with them. (Genesis 3:8-9) He also comes to us to reestablish what was lost to us in Adam and Eve. When He establishes a connection with us by giving us living spirits, we will never die spiritually. The innocence they had was not eternal. The life He gave them and that He gives us is eternal.

John 11:26: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. (spiritually) Believest thou this?

Adam*s and Eve were reconciled with God because they had faith in Him. They believed His promise that the seed of the woman (Jesus) would defeat Satan and his works.

Genesis 3:15: And I will put enmity between thee (Satan) and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

1 John 3:8: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Adam and Eve were saved by faith in the promised Saviour. We are saved by faith in the already delivered Saviour. When we have faith in Him we receive Him. When we receive Him, we become sons of God and are given the Holy Spirit.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Galatians 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Romans 8:9: But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

When we receive Jesus, the Holy Spirit does his reproving work on us and His regenerating work on our dead spirits and establishes a living connection between our souls and bodies and God the Father. Jesus is the only one who can connect us with the Father and give us the Holy Spirit.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 15:26: But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

1 Corinthians 15:45: And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam (Jesus) was made a quickening spirit.

Until we receive Jesus we have a dead spirit and no connection to the living God and the life-giving God.

To be continued.
